How to Swing a Golf Club and Other Favorite Golf Pictures

Welcome to our New and Used Golf Equipment website. We wanted to start you off with a golf swing animation that is worth watching for a few moments. It shows good professional swing technique, and you do not have to buy a golf swing training video to appreciate this good technique. Further down this page, we have also provided some of our favorite golf photographs. Make sure that you scroll all the way to the bottom to see the last picture. While your golf bag may be heavy and you may have more golf clubs in your golf club set than anyone else at your country club, you still do not have every piece of golf equipment that you need, if you plan to play at The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews in Scotland!

When it comes to natural beauty, it is hard to beat the world famous Pebble Beach golf course in California. Here is a view of the 7th hole of this beautiful golf course. If you do not live near Pebble Beach or you cannot afford the fees, you can console yourself. Perhaps your country club or municipal golf course does not have this view, but your golf course might be warmer and the winds might be much more calm. Some days ocean winds across the Monterey peninsula can be very strong, very cold, and bite to your core. (In reality, however, we should not take this too far. On other days the winds are barely noticeable, the sun is warm, and there is no better place in the world to spend a day golfing.)

A golf photo gallery has to have one of the grandmasters from prior generations. Here Jack Nicklaus approaches his ball in 2006 at Augusta National Golf Club. Nicklaus did not compete in this tournament, and he let his grandson sink the put, while Tom Watson, Andy North, and the gallery watched.

Tiger Woods and former President George H. W. Bush stand in front of the Joint Armed Forces Color Guard during a ceremony preceding the inaugural Earl Woods Memorial Pro-Am Tournament, which was part of the AT&T National PGA Tour event on July 4, 2007, at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Do you wonder who won? Would Tiger Woods let even a former US President win? Doubt it.

Finally, from the country that gave us the endlessly frustrating sport of golf, we give you the bunker of pain. If you have the misfortune of landing in this bunker, we suggest a good shot or more of aged Scotch, before you try to hit out of this bunker. Now, you might ask why drinking would help, well frankly, it will not. Whether you have had one or two Scotches will not make a bit of difference, because you are very unlikely to play your way out of this bunker -- drunk or sober.

By the way, we mentioned at the beginning of this golf picture gallery that you do not have all the equipment you need no matter how many clubs you already have in your golf bag. The missing piece of golf equipment you need is a ladder, if you want to get your golf ball back without getting filthy in this bunker at The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews in Scotland.

We hope you enjoy this New and Used Golf Equipment website. Just remember that some golf balls are just gone. Sometimes, it is not worth going into a hole or into a snake infested water trap to get them back. Some people make a living recovering used golf balls from ridiculous places. If you let your lost golf balls go, you will be doing your small part to keep these people employed. If you do not understand the used golf ball business, just look for the golf ball recovery episode on Mike Rowe's "Dirty Jobs" show on the Discovery Channel.

How To Improve Your Golf Swing Technique

Golf is simultaneously an enjoyable and frustrating sport to learn. One of the most difficult parts of becoming a skilled golfer is working on your swing. This is something that many think cannot actually be perfected, but that improving your swing is an ongoing learning practice. You may have already spent a great deal of time practicing and find that you're continually going slightly off the mark. However, when you do manage to hit the perfect drive, it's an intensely rewarding experience. Of course, when this happens you probably wonder why you can't have that great of a swing all the time.

It is your swing practice which makes all the difference in how your drives go. As in bowling or baseball, there is something of a science to a good swing; it's all a matter of learning what works best for you. Naturally, it's harder than it looks on paper, but the following tips may help you to find the golf swing technique which best suits your game.

The 3 Parts Of Your Swing

There are three parts to any golf swing: the backswing, the downswing and the follow through and all of these must flow together and be fluid motions in themselves. Perfecting your technique requires working through each of these three parts and many players find it more useful to work on each part of their swing independently.

The Stance

Unless you're already an expert player, then you should use the same stance for every shot. What you need is to have your feet set apart so that they form a straight line with your shoulders Your knees should be very slightly bent to allow you to maintain your balance as your weight shifts during your backswing.

The Grip

Your grip should also be the same for every shot. If you're still learning the game or you've been having trouble with your scores, then a simple interlock grip is probably the best way to go. Remember that your grip should be neither too loose nor too tight. You need to keep control of your club while making sure that your wrists have just enough range of motion to move through your swing.

Practicing while Playing

You can improve your golf swing technique by using your games as an opportunity to practice. Naturally, you don't want to practice your swing constantly while other people are trying to focus on their shots, but whenever the chance presents itself to practice while you're on the green, take advantage of it.

Get Fit

Being in good shape and flexible isn't just good for your health, but also for your game. When you've built up more strength and flexibility, you'll have better balance and more control over your shots. If you're all about the long drives, this will also help you with that.

Many different aspects make for better golf swing technique. The tips in this article are not everything you need to know, but they are a good start. With diligent practice, your game will improve over time.

Bushnell Yardage Pro Guide

The unit debuted at the PGA Show in Orlando and The Hackers Paradise got a first look at it there. Here are some of the features we learned about at the show.

* LCD screen with backlight
* Easy to Use Interface, Distance at a Glance
* Distance to Center, Front, & Back
* Store up to 10 courses
* Bag/Belt clip
* Auto Shut off/ Sleep Mode After 30 Minutes
* Rechargeable Li-Ion battery
* Battery Life up to 15 hours
* USB PC interface for downloads

Bushnell was kind enough to send one over on loan to review and we were delighted to give it a test drive. We will base this review on four things.

1. Accuracy – What good is a GPS device that is not accurate.
2. Ease of Use
3. Durability
4. Features

Once armed with the device we headed out to play a few rounds of golf with it. We used it two golf courses both with built in GPS on the carts to compare accuracy. We also had a Skycaddie with us to use in comparison as well. For 5 rounds of golf we used these devices and in terms of accuracy, the Bushnell Yardage Pro was spot on. Never more than 1 yard difference between any of the devices. Ease of use was a complete breeze. You really only ever use a single button interface to move to the next hole. Each time you move, the correct yardages were displayed for front, center, and back of the green.

So I guess that is what you will have to ask for at your local sporting goods store if you are inspired to take a look at one of these units after reading this review. Me, I'd have named it the "Legend" and left it at that. In fact, for simplicity (and to save myself some typing) that is how I am going to refer to the Bushnell Laser Rangefinder Yardage Pro Legend throughout the rest of this article.

A focusing eyepiece costs a little more to produce than a fixed focus eyepiece, but the Legend is not a bargain basement unit. It is a medium priced model, retailing for 9 at Midway U.S.A. as I write these words, and for that sort of money the consumer certainly deserves to see a sharp image of whatever he or she is trying to range.

In the standard mode you just press the power button to turn the unit on. A LCD crosshair appears. Put the crosshair on whatever you want to range and press the power button again, holding it down until the range (in yards or meters) appears in the viewfinder. After the power button is released the range will continue to be displayed for 6 seconds. You can press the power button again at any time to measure the distance to a new target.

Yes, I find it gets a bit more tricky to hit the flag from about 220 and beyond, but I've found tricks to get better at that and you will too. Plus, if I'm over 200, I just make sure that I have some clue where I am as a sanity check. If Bushnell figures out how to incorporate optical image stabalization into these units, that'll make them even better. But for now this is just fine.

Some people wonder if having to look through the binoculars as opposed to looking down at a GPS unit is a disadvantage. For me it's a non-issue in part because the LRF locks on target so quickly.

Check out more optical rangefinders advice at opticalrangefindes.com. You can also read some great guides on the Bushnell Yardage Pro Legend there as well.
